To the Jew?
One of the excuses the church uses to keep her head in the sand is that Jesus' warnings in Matthew 24 are written only to the Jews. It doesn't take much imagination to realize how serious a problem this is if Jesus' warnings are not restricted to the Jews, but are given to all of His disciples of all nations.
For example, Jesus warns of a great tribulation in Matthew 24:9 and Matthew 24:21. Although the text makes special mention of the Jews, it is not restricted in applicability to the Jews. How do we know? Because in Revelation 7 we read of those who come out of great tribulation, and they are not restricted to Jews.
Those who come out of great tribulation are identified in Revelation 7:9 as being from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues.
Therefore the warnings of Jesus in Matthew 24 about the great tribulation are not directed just to the Jews but to all who would be His disciples.
Right after His warnings, Jesus said in Matthew 24:14 that this gospel of the kingdom (including the warnings He had just given) was to be preached in the whole world for a witness to all nations.
Jesus' warnings in Matthew 24 are not restricted to just the Jews but are given to all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues. That covers everyone.
